Gymnastics
Gymnastics is a technical sport with involves performing a series of performance exercises. Gymnasts display and develop physical agility and co-ordination. The modern form of gymnastics which is practiced today, typical exerts exercises on bars, mats, balance beams, vaults, rings and parallel bars.
One of the great things about gymnastics is it is a great form of exercise for children. Children as young as two years old and sometimes younger, can take part in gymnastics, so it is a great way to tackle unhealthy habits and fitness issues with children. Recreational gymnastics can be adopted by all ages as an extremely beneficial form of exercise.
When Gymnasts perform routines each is often short, yet they are physically exhausting and push the gymnast's strength, flexibility, endurance and awareness to the limit.
Gymnasts participate in competitions that use a standardised level system ranging from Level 1 to Level 10. Levels 1 through 6 compete using compulsory routines. In Levels 7 though 10, athletes may use their own routines created from a set of skills that must be included. Elite competition, open to skilled younger athletes in lower levels, is typically reserved for athletes who have aged out of the junior program.
