Commercial Jigsaw Mats
Jigsaw mats also commonly known as interlocking mats, lock together to provide a large scale mat that is ideal for flooring within a gym or home gym. A softer jigsaw mat is usually used as a stretch mat or for young children exercising, with the firmer mats being used in weight training and various forms of martial arts. When used in weight training a Jigsaw mat will reduce the damage sustained to the weights and helps to reduce expensive damage to the floor. When used in martial arts a jigsaw mat will provide support and cushioning to the body and joints when throws and various other manoeuvres are used.
Jigsaw mats are made from a high quality EVA foam which gives the mats the absorbent qualities.
The two main types of Jigsaw mats are the 20mm jigsaw mat and the 40mm jigsaw mat. The 20mm cheaper option, and can be used for various types of fitness activities. The 20mm jigsaw mats are recommended more for Karate and sports where there is not so much throwing as for example Judo. 20mm jigsaw mats can also be used as standard gym mats. 40mm Jigsaw mats are more suited for martial arts which include throws and falls such as Judo and Jui Jitsu as they are thicker and more heavily cushioned to offer more protection and support.
Jigsaw mats often are reversible mats with one colour on one side and another on the other side, the colour variation make these ideal for making patterns, borders and a centre piece, which can highlight fighting areas such as starting position e.t.c in competitions.
