American football is known in America as football. American football is renowned for being an extremely physical sport which combines strength, physical play and strategy. The objective of the game is to score points by advancing the ball into the other teams half. The ball is advanced by carrying it (a running play) or by throwing it to a teammate (a passing play). Points are scored by carrying the ball over the oppositions goal line, by catching a pass thrown over that goal line, kicking the ball through the goal posts at the oppositions end, or tackling an opposing ball carrier within his end zone. The winner of the game is the team with the the most points at the end of the game.
American football can be a fast paced and requires a lot of physical strength, these factors make american football an excellent way to burn calories and improve your general fitness and strength, when played at a moderate or high intensity level.
