Volleyball
Volleyball is a team sport where 6 players players play on each side of a net. Each team tries to score points by grounding a ball on the other team's side of the court. As well as competitive indoor volleyball other variations of volleyball have developed, most notably the Olympic spin-off sport beach volleyball.
The game and rules itself can be quite complex, the basics of game play are the following: A player on one of the teams starts a rally by serving the volleyball from behind the back boundary line of the court, over the net, and into the oppositions court. The aim for the opposition is not let the ball be grounded within their side of the court. They may touch the ball up-to three times. Usually the first two touches of the ball will be set up for an attacking shot, an attempt to direct the ball back over the net in such a way that the serving team is unable to prevent it from being grounded in their court.
In the rally each team is allowed up-to three consecutive touches, until either one team grounds the ball on the opponent's court thus winning the rally; or a team commits a fault and loses the rally. The team that wins the rally is awarded a point, and serves the ball to start the next rally. The game continues, with the first team to score 25 points (and be two points ahead) awarded the set. Matches are best-of-five sets and the fifth set (if necessary) is usually played to 15 points.
