Description

Air Hockey

Air Hockey consists of a air hockey table, two paddles and a puck.

A air hockey table has a large playing surface which has small air holes which shoots pockets air from an air machine which is built within the table, the air reduces the friction on the table and speeds up game play.

A traditional air hockey table will have a surrounding rail to prevent the puck and mallets from leaving the table, and slots in the rail at either end of the table that serve as goals. On the ends of the table behind and below the goals, there is usually a puck return.

The game itself is incredibly easy to play, making it accessible and and enjoyable to all ages. The mallet is designed to be gripped behind the knob using your fingertips rather then having full grip. If you grip the mallet with just your fingertips this allows for for more wrist action which results in faster gameplay and swifter movements of the mallet.

To defend your goal you should keep the mallet around 8 inches away from your goal. Movements of the mallet will block straight shots.

In competitions players often hit the puck out of 'drifts', this is were the puck travels in set patterns which the opposition may not be expecting, which leads to a glitch in both concentration and in the game play technique.

In air hockey competitions the winner is usually the first player to reach a score 7 points, by scoring 7 goals with the puck.
