Rounders
Rounders is a fantastic summer sport, which can be played by people of all ages and skill levels.
Rounders is a commonly played sport within the U.K, originating in Great Britain and Ireland in the eighteenth century.
Rounders involes two teams of nine players or so players, known as the batting and fielding teams. The batting team must hit the ball with a small bat then attempt to run around a 80-100 metres square. Each corner of the square is classed as a base and the player must run around each of the bases without stopping to get a rounder/point. If the player gets “out” then he/she is not allowed to bat again. Once all players in the batting team are out the two teams switch sides and the team that was fielding now has to bat. When all members of both teams are “out” the team with the most rounders wins.
Playing rounders regularly is a great way to keep fit and stay in shape. If you are looking for a fun, competitive way to get fit and tone up then rounders could be for you.
A variety of different muscle groups are used in rounders, due to the various moves and techniques that are used throughout the game. This tones and strengthens your muscles and body. Rounders is also great for those who are looking to develop strength in their lower legs and thighs as players are regularly required to run around the playing field.
Due to the aerobic nature of rounders, it improves your cardiovascular system, aids weight loss and helps prevent disorders like heart disease. It can also benefit you socially and help you to meet new people within your community.
At Gymworld we recommend the Jaques Rounders Set Complete Rounders to optimise your rounders experience.
