Weight Discs
Weight Discs, also referred to as Weights Plates, are used with Barbell and Dumbell Bars to form the basic tools used in Progressive Resistance Training.
Progressive Resistance Training is better known as Weight Training. Thanks to the simple invention of the Barbell, in which Weights Discs of varying sizes can be loaded onto a steel bar, Weight Training has grown massively in popularity over the last hundred years.
Most athletes, powerlifters, strongmen, Olympic Weight Lifters, bodybuilders and fitness enthusiasts use the humble Weight Disc as part of their weekly training regime.
Weight Discs are mainly available in kilograms throughout the UK and Europe, the most common ranges having the configuration which starts with half kilo plates and progresses to 1.25kg, 2.5kg, 5kg, 7.5kg, 10kg, 15kg, 20kg and finally 25kg plates.
Weights Discs in the USA are still sold in imperial sizes, eg 5lbs plates, 10lb plates.
