Weights / Benches

Description

Weights

Free weights have been a proven method of strength training for years. A good set of weights and weight bench can help you achieve excellent strength gains. Free weights make you work harder to control your movements, therefore creating stronger muscles. A good weights technique can prevent injury.

We stock York cast iron, chrome, rubber hex weights plates and dumbells, Marcy weights discs dumbbells and Golds Gym weights platesand kits at Gymworld. These are the best brands and provide great quality cast iron, chrome and rubber weights discs and dumbells. Marcy also produce vinyl weight discs, a good low cost alternative to a traditional cast iron weights plates. As well as weights in kits, we also stock add-on weights at Gymworld for most of our weight sets. We stock standard weights and Olympic weights from 0.5kg to 25kg weight plates, the most popular cast iron discs being 5kg and 10kg plates. Our add-on weights plates are cast iron like the weight kits so you can buy matching weights for you kit.

When choosing weights, decide what you'll be comfortable lifting. If you train regularly with weights, then Olympic weights are ideal. Olympic weights use a thicker bar and can generally take much more weight than standard bars. If you're a beginner then standard weights and bars are recommended as they cost less and you won't need the higher weight capacity of Olympic weights systems.

If you're a beginner to weight training, then the right weights kit is essential. A 50kg weights kit gives you a good starting point and you can always add extra weights when you get stronger. You'll also need a good weight bench and the more you spend on your weight bench, the longer it should last.
